The first year – I believe that would have been 2004

Why did you join RFMA?  I joined for the educational benefits as well as opportunities to network with other facilities professionals, Facilities Managers and Service Providers.

What do you like most about RFMA?
The annual conference is what I like most.  It is a great opportunity to learn about new technologies, building processes, as well as partner with other facilities professionals.

Which RFMA Resource do you utilize the most and why?
RFMA Online; especially the resource library.  There is so much useful information; anything from whitepapers to scopes of work is available!

Who is your favorite sports team?  TCU Football - “Go Frogs!”

What was the last book you read?  American Sniper

If you weren’t in the Facilities Industry, what would you be doing?
It would definitely be computer related, most likely in hardware or networking.

Meet Our RFMA Member, Ron Wilhite, CRFP

Posted By Heather Webb, RFMA, Monday, June 15, 2015

Ron Wilhite, CRFP
President/CEO
Regions Facility Services

What year did you join RFMA?
I had to look back in my records to accurately recall this one. I actually joined in 2006, thus counting this year as the beginning of my second decade of membership!

Why did you join RFMA? RFMA is a tremendous venue for becoming more involved and informed in our industry. Just like with so many things in life, “the more you know, the further you [can] go”

What do you like most about RFMA? The high level of engagement of both facility managers and vendors, not just at the annual show, but throughout the year at regional events and definitely with RFMA Gives.

Which RFMA Resource do you utilize the most and why? Unequivocally, I would say that the resource most used, time and time again, is that of relationships- both old and new among the ranks of the RFMA membership. If assigned a renovation project in Seattle, Scottsdale or San Diego, I don’t hesitate to reach-out to an industry peer to source materials or expertise in our less frequented markets.

What was the last book you read? One of my most favored authors is Nelson DeMille. He recently amended and re-released a title he first wrote in 1975 called The Quest. It’s a great read about the pursuit of the Holy Grail deep in the jungles of Ethiopia. Kind of an Indiana Jones plot.

If you weren’t in the Facilities Industry, what would you be doing? With roots as a contractor going back 30 years, I started as a residential builder and quickly moved into restaurant facility contracting and never looked back. I do, however, have an equal passion, on the personal level, for home renovations. There’s nothing better than renovation a residential kitchen or bathroom over a weekend to take your mind off of renovating a restaurant kitchen or bathroom during the week. Jokes aside, I love being a contractor, and even more so being a contractor to the restaurant facility industry. I am truly pursuing my passion and chasing down my vision.

What is one of your favorite quotes?
Master In The Art of Living (J. Michener). “A master in the art of living draws no sharp distinction between his work and his play, his labor and his leisure, his mind and his body, his education and his recreation. He hardly knows which is which. He simply pursues his vision of excellence throughout whatever he is doing and leaves others to determine whether he is working or playing. To himself, he always seems to be doing both”

What is the most-played song on your iPod? Well, that depends. If it’s heavy-lift leg day at the gym, the song of choice is I Will Not Bow (Breaking Benjamin) and if it’s the official end to the workweek and a cold libation is in-hand, My Way (Frank Sinatra) can be much more effective.

What year did you join RFMA? I joined RFMA back in 2011 along with all of my Facilities Managers from Panda Restaurant Group, Inc.

What do you like most about RFMA? I like the conferences and being able to meet and greet a lot of our business partners, getting to know new people, and connecting on a deeper level.  It’s a great opportunity to learn and explore about the organization and it enhances/deepen my understanding and knowledge about Facilities.

Which RFMA Resource do you utilize the most and why? I utilize the online training/webinars the most since it’s convenient and they provide beneficial information.

What is your ideal vacation?
My dream vacation would be immersing myself in a tropical paradise, BORA BORA. I would love to visit the pristine beaches, relaxing on the lagoon, and cruise the Tahitian paradise aboard the resort’s catamaran, and have a yoga retreat.  I love to be surrounded by natural beauty it has to offer.

What is your guilty pleasure? My guilty pleasure would be having a sweet tooth and love to eat sweets and drink boba milk tea.  I know it’s not too healthy but sometimes it’s very hard to resist the sweet temptations.

What is the most-played song on your iPod? I love listening to Stronger (What Doesn’t Kill You) by Kelly Clarkson.  I love the meaning behind this song and it motivates and encourages me to be better each time I listen to it.
