Hello RFMA members,

The weather is heating up in Texas and so is the work at Mobile Loaves & Fishes(MLF). As you can see from the photos, the new foundations for a tiny home and a new pizza oven were poured this week along with a concrete road repair. Special thanks to all from Elite Paving. They finished this up in just a couple days in over 100 degree heat. We are planning on building the small home along with a storage facility during the upcoming Volunteer Day on Saturday, Sept. 8th. Don't forget to register on our website and book your room at the downtown Sheraton Hotel. Besides the buildings construction during the Volunteer Day, we will be completing all sorts of landscaping, gardening, and general organizing in their offices.

We are still needing several items to help out MLF.

RFMA Gives Back: 75F Experience

Posted By Kristen E. Johnson, 75F, Friday, October 14, 2016
It was a bright, sunny morning when we headed out to find The Daily Bread in downtown Orlando, Florida, where we would volunteer to help refresh a center that feeds the homeless and less fortunate. We were greeted by a large group of smiling faces alongside coffee and pastries. Thank you for the treats, Starbucks! We were given an emotional welcome speech from The Daily Bread community leaders. It was clear in both demeanor and words how overwhelmed the team was to see 160 eager faces, anxious to make improvements to the grounds and facilities. We quickly broke into groups that were in charge of landscaping, cleaning, organizing a clothes pantry, remodeling restrooms and painting. Each team was led by a designated task force leader who kept us energized and focused, while encouraging us to stay hydrated. The most grueling job was likely landscaping, as temps landed at over 90°F, with a heat index that was over 103°F! Around our lunch hour we took a much needed break to rehydrate and reenergize with a delicious meal. A special thanks to Olive Garden and KFC for donating the food. The incredible RFMA team provided a US map and everyone was encouraged to put on pin on their home. At the time we placed our orange pins on the Minneapolis area, we represented the most northern point on the map! It was truly rewarding to see so many individuals come together in pursuit of one common goal! With 160 hardworking people working as a team, we were reminded of what volunteering is all about. Thank you RFMA Gives for orchestrating such an impactful event. We loved being a part of it and we are proud of you for working to make a difference!

The activities included repainting the entire facility, remodeling offices on both floors and also in the basement, exterior landscaping, rebuilding a staircase and assembling tables.

I was truly amazed with all the work that was completed in just one (1) day. A special thanks to the Co-Project Managers, Jim Roeger (Olive Garden) and Gordon Bruner of VMC Facilities. Also thanks to the following Task Leaders:

- Tommy Guerra, Water Heater Man

- John Getha, Wendy's

- Patrick Hentzen, KFC

- Brianne Rechy, Dwyer Service Group

- Tim Corcoran, Jack in the Box

- Craig Buck, Chipotle

The following companies who contributions made this event such as success are:

- Starbucks for providing breakfast

- Chipotle for supplying lunch and the materials and manpower to rebuild the rear stairs

- Benjamin Moore for purchasing all the paint

- Paint Folks for providing all the painting materials

- US Exterior for having their crew professionally paint the upper exterior of the building

- Westrock for supplying the construction dumpster

- Progressive Flooring for providing and installing new carpet in both the office areas

- Restaurant Lighting Concepts for supplying new energy efficient LED lights throughout the facility

- VMC Facilities for providing various construction materials for all the projects

- DWM for filming the activities throughout the day

RFMA is proud of the efforts of all the volunteers and companies that made this such a success. Even the rain held off until we were finished. Stay tuned for further updates as there are many major projects yet to be completed. My apologies to whoever I may have left out.

Again, Thank You !!
