Hello RFMA Members,
RFMA is humbled, honored, and pleased to announce our RFMA Gives 2021 project recipient is The Dorothy Day Soup Kitchen located in Rock Hill, SC. After visiting several wonderful organizations in the Charlotte area, Dorothy Day was chosen because of its great fit and the large impact our members will be able to make! Dorothy Day is a large kitchen facility within St. Mary's Catholic Church.
The soup kitchen's mission embodies the spirit that the real Dorothy Day practiced. For over 30 years, the soup kitchen has devoted its energy to passionately advocating for the hungry, needy and under-represented members of the Rock Hill and York County South Carolina communities. They also provide personal hygiene materials and clothing to those who want or need it along with professional services such as dental care and eye glasses several days each month.
I would also like to thank and welcome this year's project managers: Jeff Wells, CRFP, recently retired from Bojangles, Bill Schaphorst from MaintenX, and Josh Greco with the 23rd Group. We will be completing a deep-dive at the facility in July to determine our RFMA Gives 2021 wish list. The wish list will include equipment, projects, services and other items that could be used to further Dorothy Day's services and growth in their community. The wish list will be ready and released to our members in early August.
Our RFMA Gives 2021 Volunteer Day is scheduled for Saturday, October 3rd. Due to the pandemic, plans could change. RFMA will continue to monitor and follow the restrictions and any other mandated requirements provided by the Federal, State, or local government. Stay tuned for Volunteer Day updates in the coming months.
We are very excited about partnering with Dorothy Day in 2021 and look forward to another wonderful RFMA Gives project. We are so thankful to our membership who continues to step-up and support these highly deserving organizations each year. Stay tuned to our RFMA Gives blog for more details.
Dover and out.
