2020 RFMA Gives Project List

Hello RFMA members,

RFMA is pleased to announce our RFMA Gives 2020 site is Stout Street Foundation located near the Denver Airport in Commerce City, CO. This year’s Project Co-Chairs are Josh Rains, CRFP, with Romano’s Macaroni Grill, Peggy Fromholz from Red Robing Gourmet Burgers and Jennifer Thompson with Punch Bowl Social. Stout Street's mission is “to provide a supportive, therapeutic community for addicts and alcoholics to help them help themselves so they may return to society as recovering, productive, and responsible citizens. The following potential projects and item needs are listed below. Please review and let us know what you can provide for required equipment, labor, and/or financial donation. Signups are now being accepted for any of these projects.

Residents Building

  • Grease Services: Provide pumping/maintenance for in-ground grease trap for one (1) year
  • Kitchen Equipment Repair: Service providers willing to provide repair service to hot and cold side equipment at no charge to the facility as needed with their current equipment
  • Hood Cleaning: Routine Hood Cleaning Program for one (1) year
  • Waste Services: Provide roll-off container(s) for some projects
  • Shelving for storage rooms on the 4th floor- Metro Style
  • Painting: Paint entire exterior of building (6 stories)
  • Paint Sundries Supplier: Provide paint and sundries for building exterior and interior work for Volunteer Day
  • Landscaping: Provide materials for minor landscaping needs for Volunteer Day
  • Ceiling Tiles: Provide new ceiling tiles for 1st floor of building, mainly the hallways
  • Cabinetry: Supply & install new counter-tops for reception desk
  • Lighting: Supply 20-30 can light fixtures (LED) for existing dropped ceiling
  • Lighting: Supply 20-30, 2'x 4' LED fixtures to replace existing fluorescents
  • Flooring: Supply and install new vinyl flooring in laundry room on 1st floor (~300 sq. ft.)
  • Kitchen Equipment: New 4-6 ft. S/S tables
  • General Contractor: Remodel exiting restrooms (10) to include new walls, flooring, vanities, plumbing, lighting. Most are individual bathrooms.
  • Window Covering/Shades: Provide and install window shades for the residents rooms (70-75 required)
  • Bedding: New mattresses for residents
  • Lighting: Replace wall lights in residence rooms (70-75)
  • General Contractor, Electrician, Flooring: Remodel existing two (2) elevator interiors to include upgraded lighting, flooring, and wall coverings

Residents Building - Women's Rec Room

  • General Contractor: General remodel to include: new lighting, flooring, window coverings, lights & fixtures, remove ceiling slats, existing bar cabinetry, and floor riser to make all one level.
  • Window Supplier/Installer: Replace broken windows in solarium room

Residents Building - Men's Rec Room

  • Paint & Sundries: Supply paint & sundries for walls
  • Ceiling Supplier: Repair/replace exiting ceiling
  • Lighting: Replace exiting 2'x 4' ceiling light fixtures with LED

Residents Building - OT Cove

  • Flooring: Replace exiting carpeting
  • Ceiling Supplier: Replace ceiling
  • Lighting: Replace exiting 2'x 4' ceiling light fixtures with LED

Kitchen Equipment

  • Air curtain for back door
  • Counter top mixer
  • Counter top electric steamer
  • Landscaping: Planter for exterior windows
  • Demo Crew/Awning Vendor: Either remove canopy framing over back door or add awning on existing frame

Administration Building

  • Painting: Paint entire exterior of building, 4 stories
  • Paint Sundries Supplier: Provide paint and sundries for building exterior and interior work for Volunteer Day
  • Lighting: Supply/install replacement lights over the vanities in the restrooms (6 total)
  • Exterior Building Materials: Replace the exterior insulated panels where birds are nesting
  • Plumbing: Remodel small mop sinks to include sinks, walls (FRP), flooring, and plumbing fixtures for three (3) mop sinks
  • General Contractor, Electrician, Flooring: Remodel one (1) elevator interior to include upgraded lighting, flooring, and wall coverings

3rd Floor Admin/Gathering Room

  • Flooring: Remove carpet and replace with new flooring
  • Furniture: Need 20 new round and 15, 8 ft. rectangle tables
  • Equipment: New refrigerated salad and buffet style hot bars
  • Lighting: Upgrade existing 2'x 4' fluorescent fixtures to LED (approx. 100)
  • New ice machine & bin (smaller capacity)
  • HVAC Contractor: Replace one (1) Carrier Heat Pump system

Exterior Patio Area/Garden

  • Awning: Supply & install sail type awning system over 1/3 of patio
  • General Contractor: Install concrete bollards for sail type awning system
  • New exterior picnic tables
  • Landscape: Prep/landscape back lot garden area

Parking Lot

  • Concrete/Asphalt: Repair approximately 100 linear feet of pavement from drainage damage

Volunteer Day

  • Volunteer Day shirts, gloves, medical supplies, safety googles
  • Water: Supply water for approx. 150 volunteer

Also, please note the new policy for multiple donors for the same product and/or service:

  • Once the potential items and projects have been established and formally communicated to the membership, there will be a two (2) week time period for receiving initial donations of products and services.
  • If multiple companies within the same product category submit a request to donate a product or service, there will be a drawing or possibly a splitting of the product or service between the competing vendors.
  • The project managers have the right to make exceptions, such as if one product better meets the scope of work than the others, or if one offer exceeds the total commitment of the others such as including installation plus equipment.
  • If the same two companies submit to provide a product or service in consecutive years, the company that wasn’t chosen in the prior year will be selected for the subsequent year. If more than those two companies submit and there will be a drawing.
  • Any company that is not selected to donate their own product or service, is still invited and encouraged to donate funds to underwrite a different part of the project and participate in the volunteer work day.
  • Once the submission window has closed, all subsequent submissions will be taken on a first come first served basis.

RFMA Gives Update

Hello RFMA members,

Quick update on our project at the Daily Bread in Orlando. The main set of drawings have been completed and submitted to the city of Orlando for permitting. With a little support from Robert Stuart from the Daily Bread and Ron Wilhite, CRFP from Regions Facility Services, we are hoping to expedite the permitting process. Hopefully we will be able to get started in early January. Other items currently being permitted are the parking lot, roofing, and a/c installations. These projects should be well under way by the middle of January.

We have been fortunate to have several pieces of cooking equipment donated but are still in need of a couple electric tilt skillets. We also are needing a Florida registered electrician and plumber to complete several items in the facility. What can I say but thanks!

Being a long time member of RFMA, I was well aware of RFMA GIVES and the generosity of our members.

As a Co-Chair to the Nashville RFMA GIVES project, I am just beginning to realize the extent of that generosity. 

I am blown away by the number of people of have called/text Jeff Dover, Gordon Bruner, and myself to volunteer to help on this year's project.  Some of the projects are just starting to take shape, I wish I  could put in words the looks of excitement on the faces of the employees, volunteers, and diners at the Journey Home!  Thank you so much to all that have stepped up to assist!

Here is a quick breakdown of what has occurred so far:

We have a commitment for the following:

    * Walk end freezer (something they currently don't have!), supplied by Mobile Fixture

    * Roof replacement, supplied by Versico

    * Asphalt repair and re-striping, courtesy of Ben's Asphalt

    * Stainless steel counters for the kitchen.  (Includes installation), by Florida Stainless

    * Kitchen Remodel work, supplied by Ameritech

    * Dining room expansion/remodel, courtesy of VMC Facilities

    * New ceiling in dining room, supplied by Horizon Construction

    * Remodel restrooms, supplied by Sapphire Construction

    * Hood cleaning and grease trap pumping, courtesy of AFM Inc.

     * Air conditioning units, supplied by Rheem

     * Periodic a/c filter changes, supplied by National Filter Service

     *Coffee makers, supplied by Integra Service Group and Chain Store Maintenance

    * Small wares for the kitchen, supplied by Clark Service Group

    * LED lighting, courtesy of Restaurant Lighting Concepts

    * New chairs for the dining room (already delivered), supplied by Olive Garden (Darden)

    * Paint for the September 12th work day, supplied by Benjamin Moore

    * A new dish machine, courtesy of Darden

    * New t-stats and energy management system, supplied by Entouch Controls

    * Food safety training, courtesy of Food Safety Training

    * Video production of entire RFMA Gives project, supplied by DWM Inc.

    * Replace interior staircase, supplied by Chipotle

    * Water Filtration, supplied by 3M

    * New kitchen equipment, supplied by Panera Bread

    * BOH remodel/WIF electrical work, supplied by Stones River Electric

There were quite a few additional commitments that we are following up on.  I am sure there will be some that I will fail to mention.  Please accept my apologies if I fail to mention them!
If you haven't committed to a particular task, there is still time to sign up!  Just let Jeff, Gordon, or myself know!

There are several items we are looking for.  They include:

    - Replacement of an inoperable security system, including cameras, burglar and fire alarms.

    - Rectangular and square tables.

    - Floor tile and installation for the restrooms.

    - Can anyone supply and install some metal exterior stairs?   We could really use this one ASAP!

For all you history buffs - Did you know?

Just two miles from the Journey Home is the Stones River National Battlefield.  It is the site of the 3rd bloodiest battle in the Civil War.  It has great walking trails, and a historic museum on site.  Plan to spend some time at the battlefield either before or after the September 12th work day!  Murfreesboro (and the Journey Home) is only about a half hour drive from the downtown Nashville area.
