We are happy to announce Midway Safe Harbor as our RFMA Gives 2013 project
site!
We have selected the recipient for our 2013 RFMA Gives project after searching for viable candidates in the
Orlando area - the site of our 2013 annual conference. After an extensive
search we are thrilled to announce the selection of MIDWAY SAFE HARBOR
in the community of Sanford, Florida. This organization, in partnership with
the Seminole County Public School District and others, provides after-school
programming, a foster grandparent program, health and nutrition education and a
"kids’ café” to more than 150 children per day to children, 5 days a week.
In addition, they also serve meals daily throughout the summer, open as a safe
place for kids, 11 hours per day. To be eligible for services, children must
attend a Title 1 school (families earn $10-$20M/year). All of the meals are
currently prepared in a very small, multi-use kitchen with an
all-volunteer staff.
When we visited the wonderful people at Midway
Safe Harbor, we knew instantly that RFMA Gives could have a large and lasting
impact on the children they served. We are currently finalizing the plans for
this project and determining the full scope of work. The complete list of needs
will be posted here on the RFMA website and communicated to our members by the
end of the summer.
Here are a list of some of our needs for the
project:
