A big THANK YOU to all of our amazing members and volunteers who have already helped us secure many of the items on our RFMA Gives 2016 project list. We couldn’t complete these kitchen renovations without your generous support. We are still looking to acquire these products and services below:
  • Replacement of an inoperable security system, including cameras, burglar and fire alarms
  • Rectangular and square tables
  • Floor tile and installation for the restrooms
  • Supply and install some metal exterior stairs

US chain restaurants get 1 more year to display calorie count
Reuters
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration said it would extend the deadline for chain restaurants to disclose calorie counts on menus by a year to the end of 2016. The FDA set a national standard for restaurant chains with 20 or more outlets late in 2014, to make people more aware of the risks of obesity posed by fatty and sugary foods as part of the Affordable Care Act.

NPD: More consumers choosing to dine in
Nation's Restaurant News
Limited-service restaurants that remodeled their interiors to create a more pleasant dining experience seem to have the right idea, as a growing number of customers are choosing to dine in. Dine-in visits at quick-service restaurants grew 5 percent in the year ended in December 2014, according to The NPD Group, making it the fastest-growing dining occasion in any restaurant segment.

Cool roof coating lowers energy use
Green Building Elements
A two-year study by the Queensland University of Technology in Australia finds that a cool roof coating can lead up to a 30 percent reduction in air conditioning load by reducing the amount of heat entering a building through its roof. According to Architecture & Design, the study focused on a sample of houses, schools, offices and retail spaces and revealed that the special reflective white paint reflected 88 percent of the sun's energy.
