Panera Bread addresses local hunger with shared-responsibility concept

Panera Bread Bakery Cafes begin each day at 10 p.m. the night before. At night, when all the customers and staff are gone, the bakers arrive to await the delivery of fresh dough, made in one of Panera's fresh dough facilities across the country. For more than two decades, at the end of each day Panera has dedicated all unsold breads and baked goods to community organizations to feed the hungry.

Shining the light on dark store management

It is the proverbial thorn in the side, rising up to poke you when you least want to deal with it. For many, the issues often are not identifying what needs to get done or monitored but at what frequency and scope. 'Operation Swill' finds bars, restaurants swapped in cheap liquor

Patrons who ordered premium spirits at some bars and restaurants in New Jersey may have actually wet their whistles with bottom-shelf booze. State liquor control and law enforcement officials seized inventory and served demands for records from 29 bars and restaurants as part of "Operation Swill" — a yearlong investigation into the alleged substitution of cheaper brands for premium alcoholic beverages, according to the state Attorney General's Office.
