RFMA Give Volunteer Day

Posted By Jeff Dover, CRFP, RFMA, Tuesday, September 29, 2015

"What a wonderful day!!!" Those were the words from many of the generous volunteers that showed up on Saturday, September 12th at The Journey Home (TJH) in Murfreesboro, TN for the annual RFMA Gives Volunteer Day. There were well over 100 individuals that worked diligently in remodeling both the inside and out of TJH. The activities included repainting the entire facility, remodeling offices on both floors and also in the basement, exterior landscaping, rebuilding a staircase and assembling tables.

I was truly amazed with all the work that was completed in just one (1) day. A special thanks to the Co-Project Managers, Jim Roeger (Olive Garden) and Gordon Bruner of VMC Facilities. Also thanks to the following Task Leaders:

- Keith Moore, US Exterior

- Gordon Bruner, VMC Facilities

- Brian Foster, Paint Folks

- Jack McNertney, Red Lobster

- Tommy Guerra, Water Heater Man

- John Getha, Wendy's

- Patrick Hentzen, KFC

- Brianne Rechy, Dwyer Service Group

- Tim Corcoran, Jack in the Box

- Craig Buck, Chipotle

The following companies who contributions made this event such as success are:

- Starbucks for providing breakfast

- Chipotle for supplying lunch and the materials and manpower to rebuild the rear stairs

- Benjamin Moore for purchasing all the paint

- Paint Folks for providing all the painting materials

- US Exterior for having their crew professionally paint the upper exterior of the building

- Westrock for supplying the construction dumpster

- Progressive Flooring for providing and installing new carpet in both the office areas

- Restaurant Lighting Concepts for supplying new energy efficient LED lights throughout the facility

- VMC Facilities for providing various construction materials for all the projects

- DWM for filming the activities throughout the day

- Cintas Corporation for supplying shirts, gloves, goggles, and First Aid Kit

RFMA is proud of the efforts of all the volunteers and companies that made this such a success. Even the rain held off until we were finished. Stay tuned for further updates as there are many major projects yet to be completed. My apologies to whoever I may have left out.

Again, Thank You !!

Jeff, Thank you to you and the rest of the RFMA staff for organizing the day and providing the opportunity! Everything was taken care of and all the majority of us had to do was show up.

Thank you Jeff and everyone at RFMA for the opportunity to give back. I'm blown away by the generosity of our members every year and I'm proud to be a part of this association!

I concur with Jeff. What a special day and special project. This now completes our 6th RFMA Gives makeover due to the generous outpouring of support by our membership. I truly believe that this event is becoming an annual "gathering" of professionals who clearly love doing this and consider it a "professional family reunion". Looking forward to whatever project we do next year in the Orlando area. BTW, this will be a return to this market. Our last project in 2013 impacted hundreds of kids and families. I can't wait to help with next year's project. Wishing everyone a great fall!!
